Every man needs an arsenal of at least three recipes in his quiver. Preferably, seven. Seven days of heaven is sure to win the heart of many a fair maiden. The smells alone of this amazingly easy dish…will have women fawning all over you! YES…it works both ways!
1 lb. Ground Beef
1 Onion, halved and sliced
2 Cloves of Garlic, minced
1 Tbsp. Italian Spice Blend
1 large can of Tomato Sauce
Optional; A splash of Red Wine
2 to 4 portions of Whole Wheat Spaghetti
Grated Parmesan (not powdered) for topping
Brown the beef in a medium-sized cook pot. No need for oil. There’s enough in the meat. When the meat is almost browned, toss in the sliced onions and saute onions until soft. If at this point, there’s some grease in the bottom of the pot, ladle some of it out and toss.
Add garlic and Italian spice blend, sauté for another minute. Add tomato sauce. Reduce to a simmer. Cook for 20 minutes. Just before serving, add a splash of red wine.
Meanwhile, heat a pot of water, add a pinch of salt, when boiling…add pasta. When done, drain pasta. DO NOT RINSE.
If you are making two portions of pasta, remove half of the meat sauce into a gravy boat or bowl (for tableside) so that your love can add additional sauce to his or her pasta.
Toss the two portions of pasta into the cookpot with the meat sauce and give it a stir. Turn off and let sit for a few minutes.
Plate the pasta, top with a little parmesan, and serve.
For extra kudos, serve with garlic bread and a robust bottle of red wine. Candles and a few flowers will put you over the top. Yes! It’s entirely possible that you WILL get lucky tonight
